Check out Work Programs
Work programs let you earn income to cover your education expenses and gain valuable work experience.
Work-Study programs typically allow students to earn up to a set awarded amount by working on campus. To qualify, you must:
- Submit the FAFSA;
- Note on the FAFSA that you are willing to consider a Work-Study program;
- Accept a Work-Study award if offered in your award letter;
- Complete a Work-Study employment application;
- Interview for available positions.
Co-operative programs provide on-the-job training and experience for college credit in positions relevant to the student’s major and career interests. These programs often rotate students from classroom to work to enable them to experience their chosen profession and quickly see how to apply what they learn in the classroom. Not all schools offer co-operative programs. To learn more about co-operative opportunities talk with your college counselor or conduct an online search.
In addition to Work-Study and Co-operative programs, many schools give upper-level and graduate students the opportunity to share their experience and knowledge with other students as Resident Assistants and Teaching Assistants. To learn more about on-campus assistantships, contact your counselor and your college employment office.
